The striker has just returned to Manchester after a successful loan spell with Norwich, where he scored 5 goals in 16 games. The Canaries admitted they wanted to keep Huckerby permanently but could not meet city's £1 million valuation.
However, West Brom have stepped in with a £750,000 bid, which was accepted by the City board. Eager to prevent their promotion rivals stealing their man, the Canaries responded with their own bid, which was also accepted by the Blues.
The former Leeds man, who cost City £3 million in December 2000, now has to agree personal terms with one of the two. But although he enjoyed his spell at Carrow Road, the Baggies are favourites to seal his signature.
They currently lead Division One and are pulling out all the stops to regain the Premiership place last season. Only yesterday they had a £1 million bid for Wigan's Geoff Horsfield 'reluctantly accepted'.
The Latics were also linked with 27-year-old Huckerby but are yet to make a formal approach.
