Nonetheless, the City boss will not be making wholesale changes come the transfer window in January.
"I am not looking to bring much in," said Keegan. "We have got the players here - we just have to get them working together and playing together better.
"We are not looking to go and do anything crazy in the transfer window. We will concentrate on what is happening at the moment and we will look at it in a couple of weeks."
Keegan will be assessing young trialists in the coming weeks when they are put through their paces at Carrington.
"They are more for the future," he added. "We should not stop looking to strengthen our base of younger players. I would not be doing my job if I was not looking at these players."
