Onuoha, who turns 25 on Saturday, has only made one appearance for Roberto Mancini's table-toppers this season - against Birmingham City in the League Cup

After New Zealand international Winston Reid was ruled out for six weeks, West Ham boss Sam Allardyce announced his intentions to bring in defensive reinforcements.

Out of favour: Nedum Onuoha has only made one appearance for Man City this season

? James Tomkins and Abdoulaye Faye are now Allardyce's only two fit central defenders, and the former Bolton boss said: 'My main priority is to find a central defender to loan for the next two or three months.'

Onuoha, who spent last season on loan at Sunderland, would fit the bill perfectly.

The former England Under-21 defender was at the centre of the storm that led to the resignation of former City chief executive Garry Cook in September after a letter was accidentally sent to his mother.
