Weaver to miss start

Weaver has had surgery to clear out debris in his knee, this the second time he has gone under the knife in the last twelve months.

"There's no good time to get an injury, but this is just about the worst possible time," he told the club's official website.

"The operation was only a small one to clean things up, but it will set me back a month or so.

"It's the second year running that I have suffered in this way in the summer and it's particularly frustrating because I came back from holiday early to get in some extra work.

"It is the last thing I wanted after working hard all summer. I wanted a good pre-season so as to be able to put pressure on Peter and Carlo. Now the main aim is to make sure I'm fully fit as soon as possible without rushing things and making them worse."
