Villa have reportedly tabled a £5.5 million bid for the City defender who was also the subject of a possible switch to Newcastle united during the January transfer window.

"I've just been with the other 19 Premiership chairman and chief executives and it would be dishonest to say I didn't talk to Manchester City about Sylvain Distin," Ellis told Sky Sports.
