Arsenal drama queen Robin van Persie has wasted his time by declaring that he doesn’t want to waste time on City striker Emmanuel Adebayor.
‘Victim’ van Persie accused his former teammate of deliberately trying to injure him when the two teams met in Manchester earlier this month, as the blues ran out 4-2 winners. The Dutchman issued a statement via the Arsenal website not long after the game had finished, declaring Ade set out to injure him.
“I don’t expect an apology from him so I don’t want to waste anymore time on him,” whinges van Persie, who should have also been on an FA charge following his foul-mouthed goal celebrations in front of the City fans. “So he had to do what he did. If I look in a mirror, I cannot blame myself.” Well, it’s not Ade’s fault he was born so ugly was it?
Van Persie’s well timed verbal outburst comes ahead of City’s deadline to answer to Adebayor’s improper conduct charge, following his run along the pitch to celebrate in front of the Arsenal supporters, who then proceeded to barrage their former hero with projectiles. The blues have until Wednesday to respond to the charge, which could see the striker face a further suspension should he be found guilty, an outcome which would no doubt please van Persie even more.
However, unlikely heroes Sir Alex Ferguson and Gary Neville could prove to be Ade’s saviours. Their celebrations at the end of the derby, where Ferguson was seen aiming a clenched fist salute in the direction of the City fans and Neville’s run along the touchline towards the blues fans will prove the FA are themselves guilty of double standards who like to make a mockery of their own rules. By failing to punish the duo, Ade should get away with a slap on the wrist and told not to do it again but, as we all know, once the FA have got it in for you, there is no escape for their deathly grip.
