But the Dutch international said: "I have not spoken to them."
Van Hooijdonk's contract with Feyenoord expires this summer but he is believed to favour staying at De Kuip.
"Neither I nor Pierre have spoken to Manchester City and as far as I can see, all this talk is nothing more than rumour," said Van Hooijdonk's agent, Rob Jensen.
"Pierre has a meeting with the Feyenoord president at the end of the month at which he will discuss the possibility of a contract for the coming season.
"He would prefer to stay with Feyenoord and overall we are quite relaxed about the situation."
Feyenoord's senior press officer Fred Blankemeijer added: "We hope he will sign a contract for the next two years.
"The option is there and we are hopeful it will happen, hopefully next week."
