The former England midfielder has been forced onto the sidelines for the last four weeks with a knee injury but has returned to full training.
Sinclair missed the start of the campaign, also through injury, so has therefore made just four appearances so far - starting in the home games against Charlton (when he scored) and Everton.
"Trevor has been back out with the squad for the last couple of days and hopefully he is not far off now," coach Derek Fazackerley told the official City website.
Claudio Reyna, Joey Barton and Jihai Sun are now on City's injury list, but Sinclair could boost the squad for Sunday's game at Newcastle.
