"Danny will be out for about ten days," said manager Kevin Keegan.
"He was out at the start of pre-season but now he has come back with a niggly case of tendonitis, a different injury which kept him out at the start of pre- season."
"He had a small operation at the end of last season and now this latest injury has delayed his start. He didn't come to Hamburg and then he came back in and felt the injury."
"It is not a big concern but the timing is bad for Danny in terms of getting into the side. There is a lot of competition now and he is one of those players who will compete for a place. He has energy and drive and wants to win, so we would like to get him back fit."
