The England international winger has been charged with violent conduct after appearing to retaliate after being fouled by Stoke City's Rory Delap in City's 1-0 defeat at the Britannia Stadium on 31st January which led to Delap being shown a red card.
Referee Martin Atkinson missed the incident but ater viewing video evidence has claimed that had he seen it then Wright-Phillips would also have received a red-card.
Wright-Phillips will now be forced to sit out City's next three League matches against Portsmouth (a), Liverpool (a) and West Ham United (a).
