The Carlos Tevez saga rumbles on with the striker apparently deciding against joining Liverpool.
Tevez has admitted to being unhappy at Old Trafford and his decision to exclude the Anfield club as a possible destination leaves the way open for City and Chelsea to compete for his services.
In other news, City have been rumoured to have agreed an £18m fee for Blackburn striker Roque Santa Cruz. The Paraguayan has long been a target for Mark Hughes but any deal is certain to be subject to a rigorous medical considering the length of time Santa Cruz spent on the treatment table last season.
Samuel Eto’o could be joining City, with a reported weekly wage of £192,000, but Inter Milan manager Jose Mourinho could be ready to snatch the striker from under City’s noses.
Turning to players leaving the club, Sunderland are reportedly close to signing Richard Dunne for £5m. Do they want Ben Haim as well? Hughes will be reluctant though to allow Dunne to leave unless a replacement is brought in.
