John Terry has finally put an end to speculation about his future by declaring he is to stay at Chelsea.
The defenders silence had been taken as a sign that he was considering handing in a transfer request but now Terry has stated he has no intention of leaving Stamford Bridge. "I am committed as ever to helping Chelsea drive forward," says Terry on the club's website. "Leaving Chelsea was never a possibility."
Terry has spent his entire career at the Bridge after coming through the youth ranks when City manager Mark Hughes was leading the front line for the Pensioners.
The statement by Terry finally puts an end to the speculation and now allows Hughes to concentrate on bringing in Joleon Lescott, Kolo Toure or Matthew Upson as he seeks to strengthen his defence.
