Despite Rolando Bianchi putting the Blues into a 7th-minute lead, we trailed 2-1 at the break after strikers by El-Hadji Diouf and Kevin Nolan.
But City hit back straight after the restart through a deflected Didi Hamann strike and late efforts by Darius Vassell and Kelvin Etuhu made it 9 wins from 9 at home.
Sven was disappointed City failed to build on their fine start but believes he managed to spark a positive response.
"After going 1-0 up we should have been on top of them and controlled the game a little bit better," he said. "We more or less gave it away by not being aggressive and standing watching them.
"They had their heads down (at half-time), so I said 'you look like a losing team' to them and I think they were a little bit upset by that. They changed that in the second half and showed great character.
"It was important that we scored early after the break and after that everything went very well for us.
"The players were very, very good in the second half and it showed good morale and a winning mentality to change it around from being 2-1 down to winning the game 4-2."
