Team of the Week 16412

Last updated : 16 April 2012 By DSG

This weekend saw a mixture of vital Premier League fixtures at both ends of the table as well as the two FA Cup semi-finals.

Manchester United were at home to Aston Villa while City travelled to Norwich. Liverpool met rivals Everton and Chelsea clashed with Tottenham in the FA Cup semi-final games.

Here is the Football.co.uk Premier League and FA Cup team of the week.

Position : Goalkeeper
Brad Jones (Liverpool)
It has been a huge week for Liverpool's third-choice goalkeeper. He saved a penalty midweek against Blackburn and played a big part in his sides victory over Everton at Wembley. He coped well under the pressure and helped Liverpool to reach the final.

Position: Defender
Rio Ferdinand (Manchester United)
Having been written off by many, Ferdinand has bounced back and been brilliant for Manchester United this season. He was at his best with a composed performance at the back against Aston Villa alongside the improving Jonny Evans.

Position: Defender
Jolean Lescott (Manchester City)
The trip to Norwich had potential to be a difficult game for City who were in need of a win to keep the pressure on United. The England international was impressive at the heart of the City defence and helped provide the platform for his team mates to win comfortably.

Position: Defender
Martin Skrtel (Liverpool)
The Slovakian defender was on the top of his game to keep Nikica Jelavic at bay. His consistency has been important this season as Liverpool have stuggled. Another cup final for Liverpool will however give them something to cheer about.

Position: Midfielder
Graham Dorrans (West Brom)
A screamer from Dorrans was the difference between the sides when West Brom met Queens Park Rangers on Saturday. His goal gave the Baggies three points in what was otherwise a rather dull encounter.

Position: Midfielder
Gylfi Sigurdsson (Swansea)
Another impressive display from the Icelandic star and another great goal. He scored his seventh goal for the Swans against Blackburn and Brendan Rogers will surely be desperate to keep hold of him once his loan expires at the end of the season.

Position: Midfielder
Antonio Valencia (Manchester United)
The Ecuadorian winger has been the difference for Manchester United this season. His pace and energy has helped win so many matches this year and this was evident once again during the 4-0 win over Aston Villa.

Position: Midfielder
Paul Scholes (Manchester United)
United really missed him against Wigan midweek, but his return to the side for the game with Aston Villa was a massive boost. He once again defied his age and dictated the midfield all throughout the game.

Position: Forward
Sergio Aguero (Manchester City)
The strike pairing of Aguero and Tevez could give City hope just yet. The two Argentines seem rejuvenated, with Aguero picking up two goals in the 6-1 win over Norwich. Had it not been for Norwich keeper John Ruddy, he would have had a hat-trick for himself.

Position: Forward
Carlos Tevez (Manchester City)
While Aguero fell one short of a hat-trick, the returning Tevez did however score three times against Norwich. With the title at stake both sides have agreed to bury the hatchet for now and it could be Mancini who benefits the most. If City do end up winning the title, this man will have been the difference.

Position: Forward
Didier Drogba (Chelsea)
The Ivorian forward proved his importance to Chelsea with a dominating display against Tottenham in the FA Cup semi final. He scored the first of Chelsea's goals to set them on their way to a thumping 5-1 victory and a place in the final.
