The Blues right-back was serving a one-match ban for the trip to Arsenal and was deputised by Nedum Onuoha, but will come back in.
Onuoha may remain in the side though, in his preferred role of centre-half, if Kevin Keegan chooses to give a rest to Richard Dunne, who has opened talks this week over a new City deal.
Joey Barton is thought to be struggling with injury so Steve McManaman or Willo Flood could also feature in the starting XI.
Former Blue Chris Killen is likely to lead the Oldham attack, though Lee Croft, who is at Boundary Park on loan from City, is not permitted to play.
"I would like to think there is more to come from all my team. We are looking forward to a great Cup-tie and a local derby," Keegan told the official City website.
"It is a potential banana skin but no more so than if we had been drawn against someone like Yeovil or Scunthorpe.
"The important thing is that our supporters don't have to travel far and our players are aware of what a good run in the FA Cup could do for this club in terms of confidence and finance."
