Sven set for another summer spree

Sven had a meeting with the City owner on Monday and The Daily Mirror today reported that the Blues boss said he'd need another £50m to take City to the next level.

Sven has already spent £50m transforming City into European contenders this season following a 14th-placed finish last term.

And although Thaksin is unlikely to free up that much cash, Sven is expected to be given a £30m transfer kitty to turn the Blues into Champion League qualifiers.

Sven is said to be targeting 5 new players, including a keeper, a holding midfielder, a right-sided midfielder and a proven striker.

That goalscorer won't be Thierry Henry, though, after he insisted he has no desire to return to the Premier League despite a difficult first season with Barcelona.

City have also been linked with Werder Bremen midfielder Diego, although I wouldn't hold your breath on that one with Juventus and Real Madrid also interested.

Sven has already found Martin Petrov for the left of midfield and one potential target for the right is Aaron Lennon. The Spurs winger, who got the nod ahead of ex-Blue Shaun Wright-Phillips in England's 2006 World Cup squad, has been linked with a £16m move to City.

Sven is expected to make room in his squad, with the Blues boss said to be offloading Sun Jihai, Andreas Isaksson, Geovanni, Rolando Bianchi and Georgios Samaras.

The departures of Bianchi and Samaras would be of little surprise given they're both out on loan right now, while Sun and Geo have both been bit-part players this season.

Isaksson has requested a transfer after being kept out by the ever-improving Joe Hart, but there'll be few better keepers on the market if Sven does let Isaksson leave.
