Only last week City owner Thaksin Shinawatra himself claimed City are interested in a January move for Inter Milan striker Adriano.
Yet today, the opening gambit to one of the site's stories said Sven had 'quashed rumours' of his supposed interest in the Brazilian star.
All Sven actually said was "I have no comments about the transfer market." That neither confirms one way or the other so Sven may well have ruled out a move for Adriano, or the deal could still be very much alive.
We've no way of knowing, but perhaps the City site was dropping a hint that Adriano is not Sven's top target in this transfer window.
That Sven goes on to describe just how good Nicolas Anelka looks more than just a coincidence.
City and Chelsea have already been strongly linked with the Bolton striker and Sven made it clear he's been a long-term admirer of the former City man, who remains our record signing.
The City boss revealed he nearly signed the French international when he left Arsenal in 1999 and knows the Blues will have a hard job keeping him quiet when we host Bolton on Saturday.
The 28-year-old, who scored 38 goals in 89 league games for City from Aug 2002-Jan 2005, came back to haunt the Blues last season with both goals in a 2-0 win at Eastlands.
"He has everything you could wish for from a striker," Sven said. "He's got technique, pace and he scores goals, he's also very strong. He will have a job to do for Bolton on Saturday, but we'll have to try to stop him. We know he's a fantastic footballer.
"I've known about him since he was at Arsenal, and we nearly bought him at Lazio but in the end he went to Real Madrid.
"He's done very well at every club he's played for, and why he has moved so much, I don't know. I don't know him personally, I only met him once, years ago when the move from Arsenal to Lazio nearly happened, but there are no doubts over his ability as a footballer. He's got everything."
Kevin Keegan splashed out £13m to sign Anelka from Paris St Germain in 2002 and Sven can expect to spend a similar amount if Anelka really is top of his wish list this Christmas.
