City have slipped out of the top 6 after a run of just 2 wins in 12 and Eriksson knows the Blues must up their game if they are to remain in the hunt for Europe.
The City boss admits that recent performances have not been acceptable and has urged the Blues to finish the season strongly - even if we fall out of the European race.
"We come into this game more than aware of the fact that our recent results have not been as we would have liked them to be," he says in his programme notes for tomorrow's home game against Spurs.
"In the last 12 matches, we have had some good performances, some ok performances and some unsatisfactory performances.
"On the whole, my feeling is that we are generally doing ok, even if the results have been poor. However, there is no question that great improvement is needed, and while the chance of playing in Europe still remains a possibility, we need to be stronger and more focused to keep that dream alive.
"We cannot worry about the results of teams around us in the table. We must concentrate on getting as many points as possible from the remaining 9 games.
"It may sound simple, but to do this we have to defend rather better than we have in recent games and we must start to convert some of the chances we have continued to create.
"We have conceded 4 goals and scored only 1 in the past 3 games and this is what we need to change."
