City have looked in need of a fresh face during their recent dip in form, and Pearce has said he'll be bringing in someone in the New Year - even if results improve.
"I went over the squad last summer and I know exactly what we have to do to strengthen it to take this club where I want it to go," he said.
"It does not really matter how results go, my opinion will not change."
Pearce is set to open contract talks with Finnish midfielder Tuomas Haapala after a successful two-week trial and has been linked with Ajax attacking midfielder Steven Pienaar, Shrewsbury keeper Joe Hart and Crewe midfielder Billy Jones.
The City boss has also been seen at Wolves matches recently, suggesting a bid for composed centre-half Joleon Lescott could be in the offing.
