The west London side were relegated from the top flight last term but are hoping to bounce back at the first attempt and kick-off their campaign at home to Sheffield Wednesday this weekend.
Full-back Simpson has arrived from Newcastle this summer and he thinks the squad's preparations have gone really well.
"We've had a good pre-season and the lads have put in a lot of work," he told QPR's matchday programme.
"Not one person has not put the effort in. It's good to see fellow professionals working hard and everyone has been pushing each other along. That's how it should be.
"The games have been good as well, we've been getting fitter and stronger. I think the season has come at the right time now, we're ready to kick things off."
Sheffield Wednesday finished 18th last season but Simpson is not expecting his new side to find things easy in their season-opener.
"It'll be tricky," he said.
"The first few games of the season are always difficult because, although you've put a lot of work in during pre-season, you are still trying to get full match sharpness.
"But it's a fresh start for everyone and, from our point of view, we're all looking forward to it."
