Schmeichel suffered a slight knock to his knee during the victory causing concern for boss Kevin Keegan but tests have shown there is nothing at all for the City manager to be concerned about.
Keegan told Manchester Online "There was a worrying moment in the first-half of Saturday's game when I told Carlo Nash to warm up but the big man likes a bit of drama,"
"He made three wonderful saves against Newcastle. I said to the lads beforehand we have a great goalkeeper and to get him a clean sheet in his first game here for us. Between them they did it. I think Peter's presence is very important and not only that but also his use of the ball from the back.
"Peter is a supreme professional and we are delighted he recovered so quickly from his injury. He was brought in to provide the kind of leadership on the pitch that Stuart Pearce gave us until he retired and that is what he did."
