Roberto Mancini- Im not under pressure at Manchester City

Last updated : 17 April 2011 By Daily Mail

Roberto Mancini insisted that Saturday's FA Cup semi-final victory over Manchester United was not important for securing his own future, even though the City manager has been under extreme scrutiny as his team attempt to make the Champions League and after suffering a calamitous 3-0 defeat to Liverpool on Monday.

The Italian now has the opportunity to end City's 35-year drought without a major trophy, which would be some reward for the ?215million poured into the club in the past two years by Sheik Mansour.?

City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak was at Wembley on Saturday and Mancini said: 'I don't have pressure.

Boss: Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak at Wembley

'I decided 11 years ago to start this career and I know it's difficult. If you win you are the best and if you lose you are the worst, but I like football and, for me, today was important.

'But I would like to win this cup for the club, for the supporters, for all the people who work at Man City.

'If we win the FA Cup, probably next year we can play for the title. We want to win the Cup and qualify for the Champions League.

'I think that we deserve to play in the Champions League because for one year we've been between first and fourth place.

'Now Tottenham are very close, but I think it depends on us. We have everything in our hands.

'If we have the same spirit we had today, we will get fourth spot.

'I'm happy for our supporters because they deserve a day like this, but we mustn't forget that today was only a semi-final and we have to play another game.'
