Riyad Mahrez has told Manchester City he wants to stay with the club and is ready to finalise a new deal, 90min understands.
City opened talks with Mahrez over a new contract at the end of the season, along with Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling – whose deals also expire in 2023.
But while Jesus, soon to be unveiled by Arsenal in a move worth around £45m, turned down new terms and Sterling likely to follow suit, Mahrez is ready to commit to his future to the Premier League champions.
The Algerian was in tremendous form during the 2021/22 and produced the best goalscoring return of his four-year career at City. He netted 24 times in 47 games across all competitions, comfortably surpassing his previous best tally at the Etihad - 14 goals during the 2020/21 season.

Mahrez is commanding interest from around Europe, with Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain among the teams to have expressed an interest. But 90min understands the 31-year-old to be very settled in the North West and he instead wants to commit his future to Pep Guardiola's City - who have added Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez to their already impressive attacking arsenal.
It is believed that talks are progressing and City are ready to offer Mahrez a three-year deal with the option of an additional year, and they hope to have something agreed before the start of the season.
