Raheem Sterling has insisted that he is 'happy' at Manchester City, despite the uncertainty surrounding his long-term future.
Sterling's City contract expires at the end of next season and he has been linked with a move away from the club for some time.
As reported by 90min, the forward even asked the club to sanction a loan switch to Barcelona in January as he was unhappy with his playing time. No such move occurred though, and after a slow start to the season Sterling has been featuring more regularly of late.
He is likely to start on Tuesday in City's Champions League semi-final first leg against Real Madrid and speaking before that game, he gave an update on his contract talks.
"At the minute I'm happy to be playing, to contribute. That’s the most important thing. It would be selfish to speak of any contract situation," he said.
90min understands that talks are ongoing between the two parties but Sterling has not yet decided whether or not to pen fresh terms. Barcelona remain interested and it is a move that the player is considering too.
City have informed Sterling, along with fellow forwards Riyad Mahrez and Gabriel Jesus, that if he does want to leave the club they will look to sell him this summer to avoid losing him on a free at the end of next season.
