Adam Johnson's 33rd-minute goal was the difference as captain Carlos Tevez was guilty of missing a string of chances, including a penalty and an open goal. City have been linked with a move for Wolfsburg's Dzeko, with talks reportedly under way, but Platt has no interest in addressing the rumours.
"You're asking the wrong man," Platt said.
"What's going to happen in January is we'll sit in front of press conferences fielding questions, some of them near the mark and some way off.
"We've got a compliment of players at this football club that can make us competitive for the rest of the season, but if the club believes there's a bit of business they can do that helps us, not only this season but in the seasons to come, if they can do it, they'll do it."
Victory over Blackpool made it nine points out of nine for City over the festive period, keeping them level with neighbours United at the top of the table, and Platt is delighted with the strength of the squad.
"At this football club, and at others as well, we're spoilt in that sense," he said. "We've got the luxury that the majority of the players that went on the pitch (Saturday) were fresh."
