Pep Guardiola discusses Man City links with Robert Lewandowski

Pep Guardiola has insisted that he is happy with his Manchester City squad regardless of whether they can bring in a new striker before the end of the transfer window, and that Robert Lewandowski will definitely not be joining him at the Etihad Stadium.

City are still chasing a deal for Harry Kane, and sources have told 90min that they will continue to push Tottenham for a transfer right up until the August 31 deadline.

Guardiola's side were ironically beaten by Spurs last week in Kane's absence, with the home crowd even chanting 'are you watching, Harry Kane?' in the final few minutes of the match. City were also beaten by Leicester in the Community Shield, but Guardiola has said that he is still happy with the squad at his disposal.

"Absolutely, more than happy [with the team]," he said, as quoted by ESPN. "It is the same team except Sergio [Aguero] for Jack Grealish that we had last season."

While a deal for Kane has never really got off the ground, City have been linked with Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic, but it appears likely that the Serbian forward will be heading to Atletico Madrid.

In recent days, Lewandowski has also been touted as a possible striker solution for City after it was reported that he wants to try a new challenge. But Guardiola was adamant that the Poland international would not be joining him in Manchester.

"Lewy is such an important player for Bayern Munich and he will stay at Bayern Munich," Guardiola said. "I am not going to talk to you and your colleagues [in the media] about 11 days left in the transfer market. I don't know what is going to happen."

City host Norwich in the Premier League on Saturday as they go in search of their first competitive win of the 2021/22 season.
