Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has spoken out in favour of City's spending spree this summer.
Carragher has told The People that he has been very impressed by Mark Hughes' transfer policy and thinks he has been very clever. "I think everyone in football will be interested to see how they go on this season," says the full back. "It's an exciting time for City fans and also for everyone else."
Carragher's words come on the back of Premier League chief Richard Scudamore, who defended the club's right to spend. "Chelsea came in and spent money. Manchester City have every right to do what other clubs have done unto other clubs since professional football began," says Mr Scudamore who went on to say "Why should Manchester City be singled out for not being allowed to do what professional football clubs have done for 110 years?" Words well spoken I'm sure you'll agree.
Meanwhile it has again been reported that Everton defender Joleon Lescott will hand in a transfer request and demand a move to Eastlands. However if he is going to do it, will he do it soon so we can get him in the squad ready for next Saturday?
The supposed interest in Leeds midfielder Fabian Delph story seems to have ended as it has been reported tonight that the Yorkshire club have agreed a price with Aston Villa, while the day's weirdest bit of transfer news involves the possible return to Eastlands of Sylvain Distin. He has been reportedly targeted in the event the Joleon Lescott transfer doesn't materialise.
For God's sake Joleon. Spare us all and get that transfer request in.
