The France international is currently contracted to City until the summer of 2015, but is eager to prolong his time with Manuel Pellegrini's team.
Nasri has featured in 22 of City's 26 Premier League games so far this term, scoring four times, and has made six Champions League appearances.
City's ambition of lifting the Champions League trophy in coming seasons attracts Nasri, who scored in the 3-1 Capital One Cup final triumph over Sunderland last weekend.
"Talks? I know they are planned," he told L'Equipe.
"The officials called my agent to tell him we have to talk. Then, we will see.
"The objective is to win the Champions League in a few years' time.
"But when you are happy somewhere, I can't see why you should have to change scene."
City will look to reach the FA Cup semi-finals on Sunday when they take on holders Wigan at the Etihad Stadium before looking to overcome a 2-0 first-leg deficit against Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday.
