Newcastle attacker Miguel Almiron has responded to the infamously derogatory comments Jack Grealish made about him at the end of last season.
During Manchester City's title celebrations in May, Grealish joked that Riyad Mahrez needed to improve as he 'played like Almiron' in their final match of the season.
Since then, the Newcastle star has been one of the most impressive players in the Premier League, getting eight goals in 14 matches, including seven in his last seven.
When asked by Sky Sports if Grealish's comments had anything to do with his improved form, the Paraguayan said that wasn't the case and had no hard feelings towards the Englishman.
“No, I don’t think anything Jack said has got anything to do with the great form and performances we have been showing as a group of players," he said.
“Jack’s a great player first and foremost and I wish him all the best as I always do, but this success is down to work, more work and even more hard work.”
Almiron has been rewarded for his form by being named the Premier League's Player of the Month for October and says his team-mates are the main reason he's won it.
“Thank you very much for the award and thank you for the recognition that it brings," he said. “Thanks to my teammates as well because without their help I wouldn’t be getting the award. A lot that is down to them.”
Newcastle are currently third in the Premier League table, one point ahead of fourth place Tottenham and five behind second place Manchester City. Early leaders Arsenal are two points further ahead.
