Reports in France had suggested that Marseille coach Jose Anigo had looked at Anelka as a potential replacement for Drogba, who looks set to move for around £20m.
But Anigo said today that the French international was not on his wish-list, which instead features Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic of Ajax and Lyon forward Pegguy Luyindula.
"Anelka, in my view, does not interest us" Anigo told Sky Sports.
"(Ibrahimovic) would be everyone's dream. If Didier has to leave, this is the kind of player we must sign."
