The controversial striker - who was again involved in another row with his manager Roberto Mancini on Sunday in the victory over his former side Inter Milan in Dublin - has endured a rollercoaster first year at City.
And he has now suggested that he wants to quit the Etihad Stadium after failing to settle since his ?23million arrival from Italy.
Tails you win: Mario Balotelli gets close to a mascot at the Dublin Super Cup
He told Sky Sport Italia: 'I am not feeling well in Manchester. I am happy with the coach and with my team-mates, however, I do not like the city of Manchester.
'But i have to accept it. Let's say you take it as a step in my growth.'
'I do not know whether I will stay at Manchester City. We will see what happens. I miss my home, which is Brescia not Milan, and I miss my friends and my family.'
Sunday's clash with Mancini is just the latest since joining City. Only last week he had a raging argument with Mancini on the touchline after wasting a golden opportunity to score against LA Galaxy by attempting a ridiculous backheel.
City, who have long become accustomed to his outbursts, must now consider whether to hold on to Balotelli or bring an end to his controversial 12 months at the club.
AC Milan retain an interest in the player - who was once pictured wearing the famous red-and-black shirt during his time with arch rivals Inter - and they may offer him a loan move back to the San Siro.
Balotelli added: 'Milan are a great club. We can talk about it in the future.'
With Mancini considering bringing in Samuel Eto'o from Inter - in a possible swap deal for another wantaway City striker Carlos Tevez - his chances of starting this season will be tough with Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko also fighting for places.
Balotelli has a contract with City until 2015 and scored nine times in 20 appearances last season.
