Marc Cucurella responds to Man City transfer rumours

Brighton full-back Marc Cucurella has responded to rumours linking him with a move to Manchester City, admitting he couldn't say 'no' to the Premier League champions.

Cucurella enjoyed a very impressive first season in the English top flight, quickly asserting himself as one of the best left-backs in the country following his summer move from Getafe. His performances were so impressive, in fact, that a number of top clubs are reportedly interested in his services.

Speaking to Jijantes, the Spanish defender admitted that the move to Brighton was an attempt to be seen by 'big clubs'.

He said: "The goal [at Brighton] was to develop so the big clubs can take notice."

While also stating he would not say no to a move to Man City, he was keen to state that there has been no contact between himself and the club or Pep Guardiola.

"If the opportunity arises, you have to take advantage of it. There are teams that you can’t say no to. No, sincerely no [Pep Guardiola has not called]. Of course, there are rumours.

"If people are talking like this about you, it's a good thing. We're calm; the most important thing right now is to rest."
