The 30-year-old winger has shone at Loftus Road since leaving City in August in the hope of getting more first-team opportunities. Wright-Phillips had found chances limited among City's star-studded squad but his departure from the Etihad Stadium was amicable.
Mancini said: "I am sure Shaun will want to play very well against us, but I am happy because now he plays in every game - and he deserves that because he is a good guy and a good player. We need to pay attention to him on Saturday."
City head to London with a five-point lead at the top of the Barclays Premier League and after enhancing their Champions League prospects with a comfortable 3-0 win at Villarreal in midweek. Mancini is likely to make a number of changes once again in the hope of keeping his side fresh and firing on all cylinders.
Joleon Lescott is likely to return to partner Stefan Savic in central defence as captain Vincent Kompany serves a suspension for his sending-off against Wolves last week. Micah Richards, Gareth Barry and Edin Dzeko could also come in after missing out at El Madrigal while in-form playmaker David Silva will have a back injury assessed.
Mancini, whose side have dropped just two points in the league and scored 36 goals in their 10 games, said: "Now we need to recover very well because we play just 60 hours after Villarreal. I need to change some players because it is impossible, but at least there is a break after Saturday.
"We want to continue to play well if it's possible, but we know that every game is hard."
Promoted QPR have made a positive start to life back in the top flight after a 15-year absence, particularly since adding substance with the signings of Wright-Phillips, another former City player in Joey Barton and others. A fortnight ago, Neil Warnock's men overcame Chelsea at Loftus Road, a result which - albeit against nine men - made rivals take note.
Mancini said: "They are a different team at home, a very strong team at home and we need to play very well if we want to win there. We will try to attack but it's not all down to us - there is always another team, and we need to play very well.
"They also have some very good, experienced players and they beat Chelsea in their last home game, so they deserve respect and have made a very good start this season."
