Manchester City are ready to honour club legends David Silva and Vincent Kompany by unveiling statues of the influential pair outside the Etihad Stadium prior to their clash with Arsenal.
The duo played a huge role in the Citizens' rise to becoming one of the most powerful and successful teams in Europe, offering a combined 21 years of their careers to the cause. They were both key figures in Man City's first title-winning side, and are fondly remembered as modern day legends.
In a bid to honour their heroes for their efforts over the past decade, Man City decided to create a lasting tribute of Silva and Kompany outside the Etihad Stadium, and those statues are ready to be unveiled.
According to The Mirror, the Citizens will reveal the two statues ahead of Arsenal's visit to Manchester on Saturday, with the artwork being placed outside of the East Stand.
A third statue of Man City's all-time top scorer Sergio Aguero has also been commissioned, after the Argentine left the Premier League champions at the expiration of his contract in the summer. The 33-year-old hit 260 goals for the giants over his ten years at the club, writing his name into the club's and the Premier League's record books.
The trio were the founding fathers of this new era in Man City's history, buying into the project in its early years. Since winning the FA Cup in 2011, the Citizens have gone on to dominate English football, clinching five league titles in ten years and an incredible ten domestic cup trophies.
The only silverware missing from the trophy cabinet is the Champions League, which they came within a whisker of winning last season, before ultimately losing the final to Chelsea. But former captain Kompany and creative genius Silva helped set Man City on this path to glory, and they are going to be honoured in the most permanent form.
