Manchester City could be facing a points deduction in the Premier League as a result of their Financial Fair Play breaches.
City were hit with a two-year ban from European competition and a €30m fine after UEFA found them guilty of 'serious' breaches of the rules relating to their sponsorship revenue between 2012 and 2016.

That punishment might seem bad enough, but it could get even worse for City as The Independent note that the same breaches could earn them a points deduction.
In order to compete in the Premier League, teams must apply for a license by providing accurate information about the club. Normally, this isn't a problem, but City will almost certainly have offered the same distorted financial records that they gave to UEFA.
Obviously, that is against the rules of the league, so the Citizens could now be punished. It is understood that league officials have already discussed the possibility of a points deduction in anticipation of UEFA's ruling, so that plan could now be put into action.
City are expected to appeal the ban to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, but it is thought that this appeal would have no impact on the Premier League's potential punishment.
The Citizens are thought to have broken Premier League rules and are now liable to face repercussions, regardless of what CAS think about the UEFA charge.
A points deduction would obviously not impact the title race, with Liverpool running away with the title without even breaking a sweat, but it could make the race for Champions League football fairly interesting.
Pep Guardiola's side currently sit second in the table, and if they stay there, then the final Champions League spot would now go to the team who finish fifth, which is currently Sheffield United.
However, depending on how far they drop - they are 10 points clear of Chelsea in fourth - City could eventually find themselves out of the top four, which means that the Champions League spots will remain for the four-highest finishers.
