Manchester City down Club America 2-0

Goalkeepers Joe Hart in the first half and Stuart Taylor in the second combined to keep America at bay as Manchester City notched the victory before a sparse crowd of 11,250 at AT&T Park -- the home of baseball's World Series champion San Francisco Giants converted to football use for the evening.

The English Premiership club played without forward Carlos Tevez, who was doing national team duty with Argentina at the Copa America amid reports that Brazilian club Corinthians are stepping up their efforts to lure him back to South America.

In the 17th minute, recent City acquisition Gael Clichy found Wright-Phillips at the far post with a cross from the left.

When Wright-Phillips' shot was deflected, McGivern collected the rebound and curled a shot inside the post.

Ten minutes later, Edin Dzeko offered up a pass to Wright-Phillips, who fired home from 20 yards.

Club America, who had revamped their squad by replacing seven players from 2010, lost for the first time in four matches.

Manchester City, the FA Cup winners whose third-placed finish in the Premier League secured their place in the Champions League, now travel to Vancouver to play Major League Soccer's Whitecaps on Monday.

City are not the only European club touring North America as part of the World Football Challenge. English Premiership powerhouse Manchester United, Spain's Real Madrid and Barcelona and Italy's Juventus all have friendlies scheduled in the coming weeks.
