English champions Manchester City considering move for Karim Benzema.
Sky Sports understands Manchester City are lining up a bid for France and Real Madrid striker Benzema. City are looking for a new striker and have been linked with Napoli forward Edinson Cavani as the long-term futures of Edin Dzeko, Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli are still uncertain.
The Frenchman is believed to be high on City's wanted list, with the Real striker catching the eye for both club and country for over a year now. The 24-year-old enjoyed his most successful season last year scoring 21 times in 34 league games, helping Madrid lift the title.
Real Madrid would hate to lose the hit-man as he has become an established member of the squad and has become higher in the pecking order above Gonzalo Higuain.
Benzema's agent, Jonathon Hope, is working on securing the UK mandate for Benzema, has revealed he has put forward the player as a potential arrival at City this summer.
"I have put Benzema forward after a talk with a very reliable and high source at Manchester City as a possible summer signing," Hope told Sky Sports.
"We are working closely to secure the exclusive mandate to obtain the paperwork firstly after a serious interest from the champions."
"The player has stated himself he will not go to Manchester United, however, he has not ruled out a switch to join the champions. I will have a clearer picture soon after the Euros when I have time to sit with representatives."
"I must stress this is at discussion stages. All does seem in good order but this is football and things change fast."
