Juve have not started the season well despite keeping hold of Paul Pogba against all of the odds and find themselves with just a single point from 3 matches in Serie A where they languish in 16th position.
Going down 1-0 to Udinese in the opening game followed by a 2-1 defeat to Roma away in the next was not the ideal start but they at least rescued a point at home after falling behind in the 1-1 draw with Chievo who are joint top of Serie A with seven points
Pogba came on as a substitute in the second-half of that game with a penalty scored by Paulo Dybala ultimately earning the reigning champions a point.
Man City have a tough draw compared to some although calling it the group of death may be premature but the Champions League runners-up and Sevilla are going to be tough opponents
The exit of Carlos Bacca at Sevilla has undoubtedly made the Spanish club less of a daunting prospect but for now Juventus will pose the first significant obstacle.
The loss of Sergio Aguero for the opponing match is a blow and they will have to rely on their new recruits with new signings Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling providing the extra zip, guile and imagination
Fernandinho and Samir Nasri missed yesterdays morning training sessions so there is some doubt that they will be fit.
A possible line up for City would be:
Hart
Sagna, Kompany,Mangala, Kolarov
Toure, Fernando
De Bruyne, Silva, Sterling
Bony
Much was spoken last year regarding how City performed in the group stages with Kompany being frank in his assessment that they were not good enough
City have a good chance to finally lay down that marker in Europe after significant domestic success and impose themselves on a Champions League group with a win at home against last yearÂ’s finalists
Manchester City do now have experience of getting through difficult groups while missing key players but not leaving it to the last game would be a marker that City have moved forward in Europe in itself.
Kick -Off: Tuesday 15th September - 19:45 BST
