Second-half goals from Mario Balotelli and James Milner fired Manchester City to the top of the Premier League on Saturday with a 2-0 victory over Everton at Eastlands.
Italian substitute Balotelli lashed in a deflected strike on 68 minutes after being teed up by Argentinian international Sergio Aguero to finally break through a stubborn Everton side.
Balotelli, who has endured a turbulent spell at Eastlands since joining the club from Inter Milan in August 2010, celebrated by sprinting over to the City dugout to embrace manager Roberto Mancini.
England midfielder Milner made sure of the points in the 89th minute, latching onto an exquisite pass by Spaniard David Silva before clipping his shot beyond Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard.
The victory saw City go one point clear of rivals Manchester United at the top of the table, although the Red Devils need only a point from their game at Stoke later Saturday to reclaim top spot.
