Kevin De Bruyne showed what Chelsea would now be missing by playing a massive part in Wolfsburg finishing second in the Bundesliga and qualifying for the Champions League
The 22-year-old Belgian playmaker was sold for just £17m last January after he was publicly criticised for his training ground performances and it looks like Wolfsburg are set to massively profit from that business with £65 -£75m being a bid speculated at by the Guardian
Manchester City are understood to have offered £60m to Wolfsburg for De Bruyne who provided 10 goals and 20 assists for his current club which has once more made Europe’s top clubs sit up and take notice in a player that could once again become the Premier League’s next big thing
City hardly have a shortage of creative midfield talent with Silva, Nasri, Sterling and Navas available but they do need to progress from last season and provide a good service to arguably the best striker in the Premier League in Sergio Aguero
This transfer story has a way to run yet but City are at least in the ball-park with the scale of investment now required to secure the Chelsea reject.
