He said: "It is important we keep our belief because we have played well in some of the games during this run and it is up to me and the coaches to ensure the players maintain that belief.
"I feel very sorry for the players because they gave everything tonight and my job is to keep that confidence up.
"At the moment Lady Luck has deserted us but over a season we will go to places and maybe get a rub of the green which we haven't had here.
City led at half-time but two fortunate goals for Birmingham in the last 9 minutes meant the hosts snatched the three points.
"I don't think David Seaman has had a shot of note to save," said Kev. "Then Birmingham get a free kick and the rebound hits Kenna and goes in.
"And it was almost exactly the same with the second goal for Forssell."
He added: "This is my worst run as a manager by a long way."
"Other teams in the Premiership have gone four or five games unbeaten playing worse than us. Our performances are better than the results we have been getting, that is satisfying, but it is also worrying because you can't keep playing well without getting results."
