United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has begun his usual pre-derby mind games drivel by claiming City are ‘too cocky’ and believes our attitude will come back to haunt us.
“I think they’re got seven centre forwards now which is crazy,” moans the Scotsman. Maybe Fergie has been away and not realised that Carlos Tevez, Roque Santa Cruz and Benjani are injured, Jo, Bojinov and Caicedo are on loan and Emmanuel Adebayor is banned, leaving Craig Bellamy as the only playable striker. Bless him, it must be his age.
Fergie also claims that the amount of money City have spent means we have to win the league and that is where the blues problems will lie. “It’s going to be very difficult for them to win the league because they have to beat the top four at some point,” Fergie explains to us dunces.
The Old Trafford boss also claims we have had a softish start to the season with two or three easier games which have made us a little cocky. Yes, we haven’t played two newly promoted teams in our first two games winning one and losing one have we?
So Fergie’s off and running so let’s see what Mark Hughes responds with. Should be a good derby.
