Everton have turned down Joleon Lescott’s transfer request, ending almost all hope of City making him their next big name signing.
Everton manager David Moyes has said all summer that none of his stars are available and he seems to be sticking to his word as he continually rejects the blues advances for his star defender.
The news will come as a blow to manager Mark Hughes, who may now turn to West Ham’s Matthew Upson to strengthen his defence. Thirty year old Upson is also on England duty in Holland with Lescott and the Hammers are unlikely to turn down a request from City and the player himself is rumoured to want a move north.
