With Darren Bent marking his Aston Villa debut by belting home the winner against City on Saturday, attention has turned to Dzeko's failure to score in his two games so far.
As Alan Hansen raised doubts over the Bosnian's pace on Match of the Day immediately after his debut against Wolves seven days earlier, question marks are already being asked. But, as Kompany points out, it is very early days to start condemning a player who has no previous experience of the English game.
"Edin will not be affected by it," Kompany told the Manchester Evening News. "It happens - strikers miss and defenders concede.
"Edin has played for a long time in Germany and he has the German mentality which means you just keep working hard.
"The Bundesliga is a completely different league. Nothing compares to the speed and power of the Premier League. It is unequalled in Europe."
