Speaking after the 5-1 demolition of Everton he said: "I have told people I won't stay beyond my five-year contract.
"I've got two years left. We are trying to finish in the top six, but it doesn't matter if we win the league, I will not stay."
The City boss added: "But I would like to hand this club over to somebody in a better state than it is now and that will be my challenge.
"If I cannot do that then I have failed in trying to do the job properly."
