Speaking to ESPN soccernet, Keegan also blasted his critics within the media.
He said: "I have two years left on my contract and unless the chairman taps me on the shoulder, calls me to a board meeting and tells me he doesn't want me anymore, I will be staying here.
"I love the club and I enjoy working here. It has great fans and the challenge for me is to make the team as good as they are.
"When I joined the club three years ago the aim was to turn them into a top six team before my contract was completed. Football has changed a lot in the meantime but despite our present position, I still feel it is achievable."
Keegan, who returns to the City dug-out tomorrow, added: "I turn the TV on and start listening to people whose opinions I do not respect talking about my team. Then I switch on the radio and it's just as bad.
"That aspect of it has been hard but at least I am back now and able to do something about it."
