The City boss predicted a top 6 finish last term and although the Blues started well, a winless of run of 14 games saw them plummet down the table, before they guaranteed survival with just two games to spare.
Keegan said: "I believe we are capable of improving on last season. I'll be very disappointed if we don't - and I'll probably be out of a job if we don't.
"Last season was very disappointing and we cannot get away from the fact.
"You can make all the excuses in the world but it has gone now. We have enough players here to do well."
