The 28-year-old is looking to resolve his long-term future after securing his release from Blackburn and it is known Jansen would prefer to remain in the north-west.
Bolton and Wigan are believed to be interested in landing Jansen but the 28-year-old will be at City’s Carrington training ground this morning, giving Blues boss Stuart Pearce an opportunity to look at him.
“We have to be interested in any good player that becomes available,” said City boss Stuart Pearce.
“Matt will be training with us today. We will have a look at him and see what the situation is. At this stage it is impossible to say what will happen.”
Pearce also revealed he was involved in advanced talks with two more potential signings, raising the possibility of a deal being done ahead of Saturday’s derby, although the City chief did admit further signings before the weekend were ‘unlikely’.
