Emmanuel Adebayor has responded to Robin van Persie’s claims that the City man deliberately set out to hurt him.
The City man says he has no regrets over the incident which has seen him receive a three match ban for violent conduct by the FA. “I’m sorry Robin got hurt but I cannot regret something I did not mean to do,” explains Ade, who will now have to watch his first Manchester derby from the stands.
Ade also says the goal celebration was in response to the visiting Arsenal fans who had taunted him since the warm-up. “If you abuse a man in the street for over an hour, he would react and it would be a worse reaction than a goal celebration. There is only so much abuse a man can take.”
Meanwhile Cesc Fabregas is the latest Arsenal player to complain about a tackle made by the City man. Fabregas claims the striker tackled him which should have been a red card offence. The tackle apparently left a gash on his leg. Another of Adebayor’s former teammates Emmanuel Eboue says he is pleased about his friend’s suspension. “I am very, very happy,” says the man Adebayor considers a close friend. “What he did was no good for football.”
