Stephen Ireland last night penned a new five year contract and said there is no reason for him not to spend the rest of his career at City
Voted City supporters Player of the Year, Ireland as been one of the highlights of a difficult season with a string of superb performances. "I'm settled here. I love the club, I love the fans and I don't see what could make me leave the club," said Ireland, while also admitting that he was worrying about it for a few months' but can now go on and enjoy the summer.
Ireland's performances are the result of a rigorous summer fitness training program prior to pre-season last summer. Manager Mark Hughes is delighted with the new contract and claims Ireland as being one of the best midfielders in the Premier League. "He thoroughly deserves all the praise that has gone his way," says the boss, referring to the hard work Ireland put in last summer.
Ireland will now set out to continue his good form with Robinho in midfield next season.
